How is Crit Cast different from other resins?
Crit Cast Dice Resin is produced for dice makers with specifications that are designed to benefit dice makers. It is extremely hard and cures quickly.
What is the average demold time?
The demold time of Crit Cast Dice Resin differs depending on the environmental conditions in which it is cast. The warmer and lower the humidity the faster Crit Cast will cure. With Dice cast at 25°C/77°F and 40% humidity you can expect a demold time of approximately 4-6 hours. A variation of 7°C/46°C will either double or halve the expected cure time. Examples are listed below.
Mix Ratio | Initial cure time | Full Dry Time | Full Hardening Time |
18°C / 64.4°F |
5 hour | 8-12 hours | 48 hours |
25°C / 77°F |
2.5 hours | 4-6 hours | 24 hours |
32°C / 89°F |
1.25 hours | 2-3 hours | 12 hours |
What is the viscosity like?
Similar to the demold time, the viscosity of Crit Cast can be manipulated with temperature. If you run a part A under a hot tap it will be water thin however at cooler temperatures it will thicken up to a honey consistency.
How well does it resist yellowing and UV Exposure?
Crit cast Dice Resin does a phenomenal job of resisting yellowing and UV exposure. It has been lab tested for 264 hours under UV light with no signs of yellowing. We also have test pieces that use the same technology that have aged two years with no special storage solutions to protect them from UV damage that are still as clear as ever.
Can Crit Cast be used as a coating resin?
Yes it can. It has no minimum coating depth.
Does Crit Cast UV blocking technology interfere with UV reactive pigments? UV Color changing, UV Neon, UV Glow in the dark, etc
We have received feedback from our customers that work with UV reactive pigments informing us that they have not experienced any issues with the use of these pigments. If you do face any issues with particular pigments, inclusions or dyes, please reach out and let us know.
Will the sections on your safety sheets that state “no information available” be updated?
These sections are labeled as no information available because they are not applicable to our resin.
Will Crit Cast cure in high humidity?
When the humidity is greater than 85% we advise that you preheat part A to 30°C/86°F. This can be done by running the bottle under a hot tap. If you experience any cure inhibitions please contact our customer service and we can work on a solution with you.
Will you guys consider selling molds one day?
We have a valued partnership with our friends at Kingsfell Dice who produce our blank R3B molds with us for the BTM program.
Why the 2:1 ratio instead of 1:1?
1:1 ratio tends to be a thicker resin and to get a thinner resin it needs to be diluted. When you use 1:1 there isn't the flexibility to change the viscosity.
What are the perfect optimal conditions to achieve perfect demolding?
For optimal cure time Crit Cast Dice Resin should be cured with a small amount of heat applied during the curing process. Crit Cast is very conducive to heat manipulation which can be used to slow down or speed up cure times.
Any plans on facilitating distribution to Europe?
We are always looking for the best options to cater to our customers no matter where they are located. While we do not have any immediate solutions to European distribution it is always a part of our plans for the future.
How can we confirm your resin is FDA approved? Is it non-toxic only when the two parts are not mixed?
Our Resin is FDA approved as both food safe and non toxic and has been through the entire certification process. It is non toxic both before curing and during the curing process.
What silicone works best with Crit Cast Resin?
Our resin is compatible with many different silicones, however we have experienced cure inhibitions with tin based silicones.
